Spidey. Hubby and I went to see Spider-Man tonight. Like the rest of the nation, I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Two thumbs up from the Champuru.com Critics!

I always find myself cheering for the underdog and I love it when you have an "unlikely hero." Tobey Maguire makes the perfect "unlikely hero." Sure, it's easy to cheer for big, bulky guys like The Rock in the Scorpion King -- but when you have a geeky guy who gets picked on by the school bullies and never gets the girl, you really find yourself hoping that he either gets some recognition, revenge, or, at the very least, the girl of his dreams.
Tobey Maguire's character, Peter Parker, is sensitive, caring and always seeks to do right. What more can you ask for in a hero? Hmmm, how about some web spinning action, the ability to scale buildings and super human reflexes and strength? Oh yeah, he looks pretty good in those tights, too.
That's your friendly, neighborhood Spider-Man!

The Diagnosis. The inflamed skin and welts were alarming, but the itching was enough to drive anyone insane. Surely, this was more serious than a case of dry skin resulting from the dry Vegas climate and hard water. Or was it? [more]

Numb Lips. I got back from the Dentist where I had to get two cavities filled. I know, shame on me. It’s due to my bad flossing habits. Both of the cavities were on the top set of my teeth, one on each side. As a result of the anesthetic, my entire upper lip and the bottom of my nostrils were numb. In fact, they’re still numb – and it’s about 2 hours later. Speaking felt awkward at best and pronouncing certain sounds (like “B” and “P”) were difficult. My lip felt like I had just gotten some silicone injected into it (eat your heart out, Ally McBeal!), but that’s to be expected. Otherwise, the fillings were pain free and not uncomfortable at all. Yes, I have a wonderful Dentist!
After my appointment, I needed to go to the bank to deposit the traveler’s cheques that we didn’t use while in Vegas. (Yes, we actually came home with money – but it was our money in the first place, absolutely no winnings to speak of. You know what they say: “the House always wins” – and it’s so true.) I went to the restroom where I figured I would put some lipstick on to make myself look somewhat presentable since I would be going out in public.
As soon as I made the first stroke across my top lip, I knew that I had made a grave mistake to even attempt such a feat. My lifeless lip refused to stay firm enough for me to glide the lipstick across it. Instead, what resulted was quite a mess. I did what I could to finish the job without looking like Bozo the Clown and ended up having to do damage control with a paper towel before exiting the restroom.
What a spectacle I must have been. Luckily, the woman who entered the restroom was busy doing #2 and didn’t come out of the stall to see me struggling with my numb lips.

I'm beginning to think that whatever the heck is ailing me is far worse than just a case of dry skin. My skin is beginning to look oddly like hives and this itching continues to persist, driving me nearly to insanity. I just want to go to bed and sleep until my skin heals.
I think I might need to take off from work to go to the doctor to get this diagnosed -- and hopefully to find some relief. *sigh*
Until then, I'm going to lie down and move as little as possible so as not to disturb my highly irritated skin. Goodnight.
