5 seconds of fame. Thanks to Ryan Kawailani Ozawa, Champuru.com gets a little publicity in this week's edition of the Honolulu Weekly. Believe it or not, the blogging phenomena made the cover of this island publication and I was honored to be included in the corner article. [more]

A new look for Shari. Well, at least a new look for her site, that is. I redesigned her blog (although I didn't get to her archives yet) with a Winnie the Pooh theme, one of her favorite characters.

Next project: Derek's site so he can start updating again! [You thought I forgot, didn't you, Derek?]

Hawaii Stories. Ryan Ozawa has created a group blog called HawaiiStories where locals and locals-at-heart can come together and "talk story." If you're not already involved with this great group of folks, you ought to join us!

You'll notice in all of my new "real entries" that there's a section in the sidebar which features all of the current discussions at HawaiiStories. Go and see what we're talking about!

Belated Entry. I posted a belated entry from last week Saturday, 04.27.2002. You pretty much already saw it in the blog, but I wanted to have it available in a "real entry" for posterity.

All that glitters... I can't believe that the much anticipated vacation has already come and gone. Being able to spend time with Hubby was absolutely wonderful; I wish we could "get away" more often together. Thank you to all of you, most notably Ju and Rod, for your input for Vegas must-do's. NOTE: Photos are available! Please enjoy!

I'm baaaa-ack. I'm back from Vegas, however, I did not return unscathed.

Something about the dry climate and the hard water has turned my skin to cabbage. By the second day in Vegas, my skin was itchy, dry and painful. Now that I have returned to Hawaii, the humidity has restored the moisture to my pores, but I'm still feeling the effects of the damage. I now have welts and bumps all over my body and the itching still persists and it's driving me literally insane. It's giving me flashbacks to when I was about 21 and I caught the chicken pox. Yes, it's that bad.

Luckily, my face (which tends to be oily... a mixed blessing, I suppose) was not affected by the dry skin scourge. At least I don't look quite as horrific with clothes on. ;-)

Hubby went out and bought me some Lanacane (an itch-relief cream), but it specifically says not to use it on large portions of your body. (Not sure why, but there's probably a very good reason.) Unfortunately, I feel like I need to be soaking in a tub full of the stuff rather than applying it sparingly and using it for spot treatment.

Does anyone else have this problem when they travel to the mainland? Or is it just me? Any remedies that I can try?

NOTE: I'm working on an update which will feature some selected photos from my trip. Stay tuned! In the meantime, can someone please give me a skin remedy or put me out of my misery?

Oh, by the way, the invisible ink flows again with a light-hearted, albeit somewhat odd, delight.
