The Rubber Stamping madness continues... I can't believe it, but I'm totally enjoying rubber stamping all of my Christmas cards. Aside from that, I've been making little portfolios to hold recipe cards for the office buddies (the gals, that is...) with an Asian motif. I literally did this all day -- after my hair appointment this morning. I can see how this could become a very addictive hobby. So many tools and gadgets and neat little things... Creations Unlimited will probably be seeing a lot more of me from now on.
Well, I'm hoping to purchase my Epson Stylus Photo 1280 tomorrow. We'll see if they have it in stock. *hoping, praying, crossing fingers...* I hope I will have good news to report tomorrow. I hope, I hope, I hope.
Anyhoo, time for bed. Eyeballs hurt from too much rubber stamping and coloring little details into stamped & embossed images. *yawn*

Monsters, Inc. Hubby and I just got back from seeing Monsters, Inc. It's simply amazing what they can do with animation these days. Geez, I can remember how impressed I was with the Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast. The advent of the next generation of animation brought the likes of Toy Story, Shrek, Final Fantasy and Monsters, Inc. where you could swear that the characters onscreen were real. (Complete with outtakes... so don't rush out of the theatre!) Textures, depth and shadows make all the difference. Lighting effects, strands of hair blowing in the wind, skin texture... it's simply amazing. It's much more than a "cartoon."
Don't get me wrong, though... I'll never knock the old school cartoons like Bambi, Snow White and the rest. Besides, Frosty the Snowman could probably still move me to tears. Perish the thought of Frosty melting! (I can still remember crying over that part, although to this day, I can't remember how the movie ends. I'm too afraid to watch it, lest I start bawling my eyes out. I'm such a sentimental sap.)
Anyway, the point is... go see the movie. It's a good one for the entire family. It'll change your view of the monsters in your closet forever.

Music to swoon to... I acquired the Josh Groban CD today and have been listening to it non-stop at work, in the car, and now at home. You may know him as the guest star in Ally McBeal, the gangling, awkward teenager with the beautiful voice named Malcolm.
His voice is truly something to behold. If it doesn't bring tears to your eyes, it will definitely make you swoon at the very least.
Have a listen, then buy his CD. This 20-year-old young man is destined for greatness. Hey, if he can fill in for Bocelli, he must be something, eh?

Oh my goodness, I guess I must've had rubber stamping on the brain because I dreamt about rubber stamping all night long...
Wooo, it's Friday! I guess that means I better start my Christmas shopping, being that there are only 10 more shopping days until Christmas. That's right, little Miss Procrastinator didn't even start yet. I guess I'll be stressing out the weekend before Christmas, like always...

I've been busy. Tonight I spent a few hours working on making my handmade Christmas cards for friends and family. Surprisingly, they don't look half bad -- or maybe I'm looking at it through the rose-colored glasses of delirium.
This rubber stamping stuff is actually turning out to be great fun. I'd like to get some more sparkly embossing powders though... Otherwise, I think I finally have enough "stuff" to actually create things! Woo hoo!

Verse o' the Day. God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. So we will not fear, even if earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea. Let the oceans roar and foam. Let the mountains tremble as the waters surge!" --Psalm 46:1-3 (New Living Translation)
Despite our circumstances, God is the rock that we can stand on. (He's not like the shifting sands, unstable and here today, gone tomorrow.) He is always there -- in good times and in the bad. He's bigger than any problem you may face in your lifetime. There's nothing that you can't handle with God on your side. He is our refuge and strength. When I am weak, he is strong.

Winter weather. Winter weather in Hawaii means temperatures hovering in the 70's, windy conditions (15-25 mph) and frequent showers (some rainstorms, if we're lucky). However, we've had some weather systems passing over the islands the past couple of weeks and we've been experiencing higher gusts of winds (30-45 mph) and lots o' rain!
I love this weather. This sounds weird, but it gets me into the holiday spirit. I guess it's like those of you in snow country who are singing, "I'm dreaming of a white Christmas..." My song would be more like, "I'm dreaming of a wet Christmas..." The rainy and windy weather always brings to mind the holidays in Hawaii for me.
Driving through the town at night with the rain pattering against my windshield, the streetlights reflecting in the raindrops on the glass, looking like diamonds glimmering in the light. Christmas songs playing on the radio.... I love it.
The only time I don't care much for this weather is during rush hour traffic. Then, it pretty much sucks and I can do without it. All you need to do is add a little water, and traffic is instantly tied up for miles. It's the phenomena of rush hour on the freeway in Hawaii. Hawaii drivers are completely inept at driving in the rain. Not being derogatory (after all, I'm a "Hawaii driver"), I'm just stating the facts.
Anyway, it's raining outside... perfect weather for curling up in my warm bed and falling asleep to the sound of raindrops pattering on my roof. Oyasumi!

More stuff to slap on my computer! Ooooh baby... maybe, just maybe, I'll be purchasing a new printer. We'll see if I can come down with a case of buyer's remorse even before I set foot into the store. Now that would be a record, even for me. I usually get buyer's remorse while I'm in the store, on my way to the cashier. I always find myself double-backing into the store and putting stuff back on the shelves right before I make it to the cashier. It usually saves me a few bucks and also saves me the trouble of coming back to the store to return items.
Anyway, I've got a little ditty for today, Wednesday, December 12, 2001.
If I owe you e-mail, please forgive me. I've been extremely tired (lazy) recently and have been neglecting my e-mail again. I promise to hop back on it soon. By the way, thanks to those of you who contacted me to request a homemade, "made by Donna with love" Christmas card! I'll be working on your cards tomorrow (hopefully). It's not too late to let me know if you'd like one, too. I need all the practice I can get and I need more willing guinea pigs (I mean friends) who would cherish my hard work despite the what it looks like. Oh yeah, did I mention that if you get a Christmas card from me, that you'll have to frame it and hang it over your mantle? (Just kidding. Who has a mantle in Hawaii, anyway?)
By the way, I came to a startling realization. There's less than 2 weeks before Christmas and I haven't started my Christmas shopping yet. Is that bad or what?

Verse o' the day. "Humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and in his good time he will honor you. Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about what happens to you." -- 1 Peter 5:6-7 (New Living Translation)

Oh my goodness...
I went to take a nap last night at 6:30 pm and didn't wake up until 7:30 am this morning. 13 glorious hours of sleep...
By the way, UH absolutely pummeled BYU yesterday. GO WARRIORS!
