2 Cents Worth. Just wanted to let you know that your 2 cents is worth way more than that to me. Thanks Ju & Marc for posting your opinions! For the rest of you, what are you waiting for? Talk to me! Interact with me! Flame me, if you really want to! Say something...

I'm out for tonight. Oyasumi!

My haiku of the day:

Tangible Love
Strong arms embrace me
Your soft lips caress my cheek
Love is tangible.

Digital Blasphemy
Julie just sent me a link to a very cool wallpaper graphic from Digital Blasphemy. It's titled "Haiku." Here's the link if you want to check it out and maybe even save it to your computer:

Haiku Wallpaper

It's a simple rendering of a maple leaf in a clear pond. Beautiful, simple, very zen... :)

Thanks for the link, Ju!

Rain
Raindrops glistening
Upon tender leaves of green
Shimmer like diamonds.

I've always held this fascination with rain. Perhaps it's because we don't get enough of it here in Hawaii. I'm not talking about those wimpy little liquid sunshine drizzly episodes -- I'm talking about big, heavy droplets of rain. Summer rainstorms are preferred and I've always had this fantasy of taking a long, leisurely walk through the warm summer rain. I enjoy seeing raindrops beading up on my windshield as I drive home at night, how the droplets catch the glimmer of streetlights...

Tonight Hubby and I went out for a late dinner at California Pizza Kitchen. It was raining and we had a table next to the window. Just outside our window was a cluster of palm trees. Outdoor lights cast bright streams of light from under their fronds. The rain continued to fall. Hubby started talking about writing haiku poems about the rain.

So we started thinking. Thinking in syllables. 5-7-5, to be exact. We whipped up a few as we sat at our table waiting for our appetizer to come. I sipped on my lemonade as I watched him write on the back of an empty envelope. Pleased with his creation, he showed it to me. Although he doesn't like to admit it, he's very talented. Haikus seem to flow from his thoughts so easily. He is like a haiku. I joked about it and pulled a fun haiku off the top of my head:

Short, sweet and concise
Hubby is like a haiku
Simple, yet profound

We swapped a couple of haikus back and forth, having fun being creative and impressing each other with our newfound talent. It was a wonderful time with Hubby. I absolutely adore him.

Yowza... it's been a busy morning. I've been out and about installing some software on supervisor/manager machines and doing some routine maintenance on them. Being away from my desk in the morning seems to be a good thing because it keeps me away from the junk food and the tendency to eat it. I made a resolution not to eat any junk food today. No M&M's, no bagel chips, no habanero chips. Nothing. We'll see how steadfast my resolve actually is.

It's 11:44 am and I have managed not to put anything in my mouth yet. Now that has to be some kind of record. I think I will, however, get some water so I don't get a dehydration headache this afternoon.

What's on the menu for lunch? 1/2 Caesar Salad and garlic rolls from Bravo!

Who you calling a "dummy"? For Dummies books are on sale at Borders. Buy one, get the second one half off. Not a bad deal, eh? As a result, we picked up 6 For Dummies books on various programming topics for the office. I love those Dummies books… and to think that the love affair all began with a UNIX for Dummies book back in 1992…

Short Spurts. I almost did a "real entry" tonight. Almost. I fired up FrontPage and actually saved a file called 03-08-01.html in my Champuru web directory. I didn't get very far before laziness set in and I opted to Blog instead.

Blogging is so effortless. You type, you push a button and it's there -- available to the world! I think I'm becoming spoiled by the convenience.

Short spurts of thought are conducive to the Blogging environment. Short spurts seem to be what my brain is spitting out these days. It must be all that TV that I've been watching. Instant gratification. A million laughs in 30 minutes.

I'm normally not a TV person, but if Hubby is watching, I sometimes find myself being involuntarily sucked in to a program. I'm a sucker especially for those MTV/VH1/E! specials on musicians or actors. I also dig the Discovery Channel, Animal Planet and those other learning channels on cable.

Short spurts. Learn stuff in an hour or less. Now only if I could do that with Visual Basic…

Automated Flushie Toilets. We recently had automated toilets installed at work. Thinking that it would be a nice, sanitary addition to our restroom facilities, I was glad that they did some "upgrading." However, after a couple of weeks of using the automated flushie toilets, I think I prefer the old fashion way better.

Whenever I go to the restroom (which is quite often), I trigger the motion sensor at least 2-3 times. One particularly bad "session" I had, I triggered it 4 times. I walked in, put my Nextel phone on top of the toilet paper dispenser. *Flush* Reach up and meticulously place the seat cover on the toilet, being careful to position it just right so that it wouldn't fall in and that it was covering the seat as completely as possible. I turn around to sit down. *Flush* Grrrr… Oh well, it was too late. To my dismay, my butt was already on the way down and ended up sitting on the cold, bare toilet seat. Shrugged it off, tried not to think too much about all those pesky toilet germies and did my business. *Flush* UGH! Toilet water sprayed my butt and I cringed. Finished my business and stood up waiting for it to flush. I step to the side. No flush. Move away from the toilet, toward the door. No flush. Damn it. I had to manually make it flush. When I actually want it to flush - it doesn't. Go figure.

I have to say that was a classic example of Murphy's Law of Toilets.

Aloha, David! During our lunch hour, Joyce and I went to see her brother and his friends off at the airport. They were visiting Hawaii on vacation. I haven't seen David in years! It was nice to shoot the breeze with him again - even if it was for just a few minutes. I also found out that he reads my journal! Yikes!

Well, safe travels, David. I hope you enjoyed your time in Hawaii! Hope to see you again very soon!

Date Night. Hubby and I went to a casual dinner at Chili's and then caught a movie: "The Mexican." It was cute and funny with a few twists here and there - and with Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts starring in the film, how could you miss?

It was a nice evening together. I always cherish my quality time with Hubby. This was no exception. I only wish we had more time together. It seems that our schedules are always conflicting.

If absence makes the heart grow fonder, I guess that's a good thing then? At least he won't tire of me as quickly ... or something.

False Alarm
The fire alarm went off this morning a little after 9:00 am. Ahh, such excitement first thing in the morning. I grabbed the important stuff -- my purse, containing my wallet and my car keys. Left everything else, including my freshly brewed tea which grew cold while we were standing outside in the "safe area" in the employee parking lot. We stood outside for about 10 minutes in the fresh air, talking about Joyce's adventures in Vegas, then were ushered back into the building in anticlimactic fashion.

Well, let's hope that the rest of the day doesn't hold more false starts...

Hmm, it appears that Mr. Blog is a little buggy when running in Netscape. Either that or my computer is just tired (like me) and needs some rest (like me).

So I'm closing it down for the night. See you tomorrow!

Castration
Toby (the Japanese Spitz) is doing quite well tonight, considering that he got his balls lopped off today. Okay, so the politically correct term is "neutered." He went in for his surgery this morning bright and early at 7:00 am and I picked him up at 5:00 pm -- all "fixed." (Although most males would consider that "broken.")

Although he looks quite piteous gingerly nursing his wound, I've convinced myself that this is for his own good. After all, they claim that neutered dogs live longer and are less susceptible to certain illnesses if they are sans their nads. Besides that, I'm hoping that this will help him to mellow out as he's just about as high strung as I am...

Unmotivated?
I finally got up the motivation to renovate the Blog so that I could be unmotivated and forego "real" journal entries and just blog when I didn't feel like doing a full-blown posting. It feels somehow liberating not to have to fire up the web editor and the FTP client in order to do an entry. I just jump on Netscape (damn that IE!) and with a few mouse-clicks, I'm here writing an entry! How cool is that?!

So I'll be frequenting this media for a while... at least until I feel motivated to write something at length. For now, my brain is only capable of formulating teeny blog-like thoughts. So check back often... And don't forget to click on the "rank me" link below!
