A photo taken of the Akulekule plant in my
yard today. I have this thing for macro shots.

Computer'd Out.
I've been on the computer practically all day non-stop. I
have a deadline to meet for my client with no leeway because of
my upcoming travels. It must get done, even if it means
sacrificing precious sleep and sanity.
My first client
is quite lucky and she never fails to assure me of her
appreciativeness. This client is getting away with a steal in
terms of the services I'm offering their organization for the
price I'm charging. It's literally taken me two full days to
create this 10-page newsletter and one newsletter insert. Not to
mention, I still need to get all of this content up on their web
site, where I've created what I've coined an e-newsletter for
their organization. By the time I'm done, they'll probably only
pay about 40% of the going rate for my services due to my
very modest (self-bludgeoning) pricing schedule.
Don't get me
wrong, however, I'm not complaining. The experience is
invaluable -- and to start a business you have to have a first
client, don't you? I'm very fortunate to have a client who is
very easy to work with, someone who appreciates what I do and
isn't stingy with her encouraging words.
I just finished
the layout portion of the newsletter. Then comes the hard part:
printing and mail preparation. That will probably take me and my
little helpers about a week to do. If all goes well, we'll
finish a few days before I leave for Vegas and I will totally
enjoy my hard-earned vacation.
In between all
the chaos, I'll also be traveling to Kauai and Maui for work (my
day job, that is). My two favorite islands. I'm hoping to get
some photo ops while I'm there, but we'll see if time and the
weather permits.
Well, I've been
on the computer way too long now. I can tell by the nagging pain
in my lower back, my tired eyes, and my shoulders that need some
Shiatsu torture (I mean "treatment") badly.
So, goodnight
and aloha.
Flashbacks: This
time last
year, I was on the Big Island with Joyce and her Aunt from
Okinawa. This time 2
years ago, we were celebrating Lori's birthday with a Sushi
Bar extravaganza.
