(l to r) Bari, Shari and Kory

Shari and Bari

Girls Day Out.  Shari's wedding is just around the corner. May 10, 2003 to be exact. I am Shari's Matron of Honor and Bari and Kory are her bridesmaids. We all grew up together in Wahiawa and had a wonderful time reminiscing about the "good old days."

Conversations that went like, "Ooooh, dat guy is sooo uji!" brought out rounds of laughter and memories rushed back like a flood.

We found that despite the fact that nearly 12 years have passed (zoinks!), not much as changed in terms of our quirky personalities that we have grown to love about each other.

We went to get fitted for our dresses today and ended up making a day of it, complete with an early dinner at Bravo and then some power shopping at the Waikele Outlet Shops.

I had forgotten how wonderful it is to spend time with these wonderful gals. We kept saying, "we must do this more often." And we really should. We haven't been very good about keeping in touch over the years, but thanks to Shari's wedding, we're all back in touch and will be making it a point to plan get-togethers more often. ©

The wedding dress shop...

Bari and Kory try some tiaras and veils on for size.

There's something about wedding dress shops that just bring out the inner bride in all of us. We checked out dresses, ooh'ed and ahh'ed at Shari's dress and giggled the whole time like high school girls.

What fun!

Shari is extremely excited about her upcoming wedding ceremony. She's already happily married to her husband Gabe, but they will be holding their formal ceremony and reception on May 10, 2003. Their actual wedding was in August 2002 in Las Vegas at the Monte Carlo Hotel; a quaint little ceremony with only their immediate families. Wade and I had the honor of being invited and was there to share in the happy day with her and her family.

At the wedding dress shop, we convinced Shari to try on her wedding dress and veil. It's a beautiful ensemble and I can't wait to see her with her hair and make-up done, too! She'll make a beautiful bride.

And on the subject of BOOBS...

Boobs. When I tried on the dress (see right), the tailor asked me if I would be wearing a bra at the event. Somewhat aghast by the question, I replied in the affirmative. (Uh, hello, I never leave the house without a bra!) So she clarified herself, "I mean a padded bra" giving me the distinct feeling that if I wasn't planning on it -- that I really should.

Before and after? Here's a photo of me in the dress (left), the one that solicited the padded bra comment. The photo on the right shows a more well-endowed Donna at a touristy booth in Waikele that had these awful t-shirts for sale. Yes, there was a backside to the shirt as well... but unlike my front side, I do possess a padded backend.
