Chinese New Year 2002.
Chinese New Year festivities were in full swing today. I was very pleased that the weather held out (no rain! Thank God!) and that Hubby had the weekend off so that we could enjoy the outing together.

Chinese lion dances, gin dui and gao. Enjoying dim sum and a steaming cup of Oolong tea. Narcissus flowers and lucky bamboo for sale. The scent of burning incense and spent firecrackers. These are some of the things make me think of Chinese New Year and bring me back to Chinatown year after year. Unfortunately, I missed Chinese New Year festivities last year and I was quite determined not to miss it this year again.

Eager to capture the essence of the Chinatown experience, I snapped 80+ photos with my digital camera. Below are some of the more interesting ones.

Hover your mouse over each image for a description of the picture and be sure to click on each one to see the full picture. I cut out 100 pixel squares for the previews so that you wouldn't have to wait all day for this page to load.

Enjoy -- and happy Chinese New Year! ©
